Service Description

Join us for a two-day course introducing beginners to the art of stained glass. Throughout the course, we will guide you through the process of creating two stained glass panels to take home: a small practice piece bordering a coloured glass mirror, and a larger piece of your own design. Current dates: Wednesday 19th & Thursday 20th June Saturday 28th & 29th September We will cover everything from the initial sketch to the final piece, including choosing glass colours, cutting the pieces, setting them in lead, soldering, and sealing and polishing the finished pieces. All necessary tools, glass, lead, and refreshments will be provided. You only need to bring yourself, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, appropriate footwear (no open-toed sandals, please), and a desire to learn this fascinating and centuries-old craft. The course is led by Roland Elliott-Berry, a seasoned expert in glasswork, glass painting, painting, printmaking, and design, with a social media following of over 22K on Tiktok. The course promises to be informative, relaxed, entertaining, and above all, fun, with plenty of one-on-one time with the tutor. The schedule for the two days is as follows: Day One: 9:45 - Arrival 10:00 - Introductions and overview of the course structure 10:15 - Introduction to and demonstrations of the tools 11:00 - Hands-on practice with the tools 12:00 - Glass cutting for the practice piece 13:00 - Lunch - A light lunch will be provided by the team at Larkswold 13:30 - Assembly of the practice piece and preparation for soldering 14:00 - Soldering 15:30 - Designing the piece for the following day 16:00 - Wrap-up Day Two: 09:45 - Refreshments: Tea, coffee and cake 10:00 - Design discussions and glass selection 10:30 - Individual assistance in achieving your desired designs 13:00 - Lunch - A light lunch will be provided by the team at Larkswold 13:30 - Continued work on the projects 15:00 - Finishing, cementing, and polishing the two pieces 16:00 - Celebratory glass of bubbly or Nozecco! The course aims to provide participants with pieces they can be proud of, as well as a desire to continue exploring this captivating craft. Roland is passionate about the art of stained glass and is happy to discuss its history, recommend places to view examples and share insights into the field of coloured and stained glasswork.

Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATION If you cancel the booking, we reserve the right to impose cancellation charges as follows: Ten (10) days or more before the date of the Workshop, Larkswold will work with you to move the booking to an alternative date or workshop (subject to any additional charges that may apply resulting from the alternative date or workshop chosen). Suppose an alternative date or workshop cannot be agreed upon at the time of cancellation. In that case, Larkswold will issue you with a credit to the value of the Workshop (“Workshop Credit”), which you can use towards the cost of an alternative workshop of your choice (subject to availability) and which shall be valid for up to 12 months from the date of issue. If you fail to rebook an alternative workshop within this period, all rights are forfeited; To cancel, you just need to let us know.
