Kate has exhibited her work at the Chelsea Flower Show and has taken private commissions across the UK.
Kate Morrell - Willow sculpture
Whilst rained off one day I was watching a gardening programme where I saw my first willow sculpture of a deer. I was really inspired by it and booked myself into a course to learn the skills of willow sculpture. As an accomplished artist it was second nature achieving form and proportion in my sculptures and I absolutely love working with willow.
I started my willow workshops at my home in Donington Le Heath and also various locations in Leicestershire and I haven’t looked back. There seems to be a resurgence in the art of craft and it’s taken me by surprise at how popular the workshops are. I’ve met so many lovely people who have been so enthusiastic and who have made so many wonderful sculptures. From complete beginners to the “I’ll never be able to do that” ones I have been amazed at the end products.
