Doodle, paint, layer, repeat! Led by local artist & educator Debs Last, this 2 hour workshop requires absolutely no drawing confidence - this is all about playing without pressure, creating something for the joy of the process, with no judgement or expectation. A gentle evening of paint, paper & flowers! Debs has many years of teaching experience & has run this particular session for guests who were adamant they ‘can’t draw’ who all loved the freedom to experiment & play without expectations - just look at the results! While your mind and your hands are occupied you’ll find you cannot think, or worry about anything else. Immerse yourself in the moment. This will be a collaborative session, and although you may take a piece home it is very likely to include other people’s marks as well - but this is what we love about the session - it’s a team effort! Join us in the Larkswold studio for this 3 hour ceramic decorations workshop - get in the creative flow and the time will fly!   Throughout the workshop you will be guided step by step so you can relax & enjoy the process. You'll roll & cut out your chosen Christmassy shapes - stars, trees, little houses, reindeer, hearts and more! You'll make 8 decorations in this workshop. Imprint your decorations with existing designs or create your own, even adding lettering if desired. Once all your shapes are cut you'll add holes or loops for hanging and add colours to the embossed designs. You'll finish by sponging off the surface colour which highlights the design.   All the materials you will need are included, however if you have some cookie cutter shapes you are particularly partial to, please bring them along. Your finished creations will be left with us at the end of the session so they can be glazed and fired . Your decorations will be ready to collect approximately 3 weeks later. Come along and learn how to make a felt basket. This workshop uses an exciting new method to create a felt basket formed around a ball. As an additional twist, the external pattern is laid up directly onto the ball which means one of the final acts will be to turn the basket inside out! This is a full-day workshop from 9.30am to 5pm & includes lunch. Your design is first placed around the ball before adding fibre layers in small amounts on top, much like a papier-mâché technique and it is kept wet by spraying with warm soapy water throughout. Once the fibre layers are complete your felt basket is encased in thin plastic and some tights (to secure the layers) before sessions of bouncing the ball on the table surface commences. This is when the fun truly starts! After a few bouts of bouncing and hand felting, we have the exciting moment of turning your piece the right way around to reveal your design! *The bouncing is a fairly active part of the workshop, and you’ll be stood for most of the session, but don’t worry, we are here to help! This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners and also people with some experience of felting who are curious to learn a new technique. Attendance numbers are kept small (just 6 in a workshop) to ensure you are given one-on-one time and attention to explore your creativity, so by the end of your session, you will not only have learnt a new skill but have completed your piece. Materials and Equipment When you are bouncing your ball, some soapy water inevitably flies around so a waterproof apron will be provided. A range of coloured wool fibres are available to make your pot. All other materials and pieces of equipment needed for wet felting your pot will be provided. In this full-day workshop you will be provided with everything you need - just bring yourself. A home-cooked lunch is included, along with plentiful hot and cold drinks and cakes! We’ll show you how to prepare your footwear before choosing your colours & getting creative. We’ll use metal foils to transform your footwear - it’s a fun process & the results speak for themselves! Get started with this introduction to Block Printing in this 1.5hr workshop. You will be able to print a tote bag or tea towel with the help of the friendly tutors at Larkswold We’ll bring everything to you. You’ll experiment with block printing on scrap fabric to get a feel of the process before moving on to your chosen item – either a tote bag or a tea towel. You’ll be able to choose your colours, layouts and patterns to make the perfect unique memento to take home. Sat 13th June 5-6.30pm

Taking paper collage to another level, this theraputic and creative workshop is hosted by the rather clever local artist Penny Lindner. Penny uses old magazines to create the most beautiful collaged pieces of art, starting with either a pear, a fish or a duck (that classic combination!) Penny has carefully chosen these subjects as ideal for this 3 hour workshop. Penny says, 'I made a conscious decision to reuse existing materials for my artwork in recent years. Colour magazines and newspaper provide the ideal medium to create collages that not only interpret my vision but also demonstrate I could achieve depth and texture with torn paper applied with a water-based glue.' Suitable for all ages (11 upwards) and abilities, this is a brilliant craft and easy to continue at home. Included in your workshop is everything you need to create your piece, plus a mount so you can simply add the frame to complement your interior once home. Finished size approx 28 x 21cm. As with all our workshops, you'll enjoy our homemade cakes and bottomless teas, coffees or cold drinks - a glass of bubbly towards the end of the session completes your experience with us. Perfect for beginners and seasoned artists alike, this workshop offers a welcoming space for all skill levels. Whether you prefer to work from the example designs or bring your own ideas to life, our friendly tutor Robyn will guide you every step of the way in this immersive and inspiring workshop! Your finished piece will be one-of-a-kind, no two ever emerge from the kiln looking the same. Your finished creation will be left with us at the end of the session so that it can be clear glazed and fired. This is a full day to explore the satisfying technique of lino printing. Enjoy the process of carving unique designs into lino and seeing them come to life when you get printing. These are approximate timings for the day: 10am Arrival, welcome drinks & chat about designs 10.30-11.30am Working up designs and transferring to the lino 11.30-12.30pm Lino carving 12.-30-1pm First prints 1-2pm Lunch 2-4pm Further printing & exploring techniques to add more colours to our prints using collage and chine-colle techniques If time allows you are welcome to carve multiple designs or try a new technique such as reduction or jigsaw printing. Designs will be a max size of A5 as it's surprising how long this process takes! You will have the option to purchase a hanging glass frame should you wish.
