Willow Hanging Basket

Spend time exploring the timeless art of willow weaving

Service Description

Working with your hands and a natural material is always incredibly popular & rewarding. Using locally grown, natural willows, you’ll be guided through traditional basketry techniques to create handmade pieces that bring a touch of nature into your home and garden. No experience needed—just a love of making. Build your skills as you weave a sculptural hanging basket using classic basketry techniques—three-rod wale, spiral pairing and a decorative knot to finish. Add a simple willow handle and use your basket to display fruit, vegetables, a hanging plant or even fill it with fairy lights for a soft, natural glow. A relaxed and rewarding way to explore the craft. Clare Shilvock is a local basket weaver, willow farmer and willow sculptor who will guide you gently through the process of working with willow - at the end of the session you'll take away your creation plus the skills to make further at home. Suitable for all (aged 15+) but not ideal for those with arthritis in the hands. As with all Larkswold workshops, you'll be treated to plenty of freshly brewed teas & coffees, homemade cakes and a glass of mulled wine or bubbly to celebrate your achievements! Thursday 11th September 2-5pm Book the morning session as well (to make a Willow Garden Giant Flower) to make it a full-day experience, and we'll include lunch for free!
