Three great reasons to love us

Only three I hear you say. Of course there are many many good reasons to stop being cold and miserable and book a lovely bit of time at Larkswold. I for one have already abandoned my house and escaped to the studio to "work" on new projects!

So other than the super fresh clean January 2025 studio with new heart bunting and additional twinkle from extra lights - oh and blinds and curtains (only took 3 years to get those up) we have lots of shiny new workshops.

Reason One: Pottery on the wheel

Oh yes - you asked and we’ve delivered. We have stalked poor Selby our very talented and experieinced potter for quite a while now. He is a busy man what with making his incredibly popular noodle bowls and other fantastic pottery items. But no man can escape the constant nagging of Emma and myself. Selby will be bringing his 4 pottery wheels and running 2.5hr sessions in which guests will get to split their time between creating a hand-thrown pot and a coil pot. You will probably create more than one of each and then select your two favourites to be taken away by Selby, glazed and fired.

The following dates are now live to book:

Thursday 20th March (10am & 2pm)

Friday 18th July (10am & 2pm)

Sunday 10th August (10am & 2pm)

Reason Two: Ceramic Tea-light Lantern House

We have had these prototypes in the studio for a few months at the end of last year and the feedback was really positive. It is quite easy to pester Robyn the ceramic tutor now that her kiln is on site and so we can confirm that we now have the following dates available for you to book. I really enjoyed this workshop - it allows personalisation (just like our ceramic hare workshop) and it gives you another great reason to get the candles burning to create your uber Hygge look home.

The following dates are now live to book:

Sunday 9th March 2pm

Thursday 1st May 2pm

Reason Three:Mosaic tray (Full Day)

We have run Mosaic for a while now. Again we put out some trial mosaic tray ideas we have been working on. Quite a few of you have already booked onto the full day session which gives you just a little more time to design your creation as well as enjoy a little light (hahaha) Larkswold lunch.

Future available dates:

Sunday 12th January 10am-4pm

Friday 28th March 10am-4pm

We are meeting with a host of new tutors next week and hope to be sharing with you a few more new workshops over the coming months.

Pet Update

Quick review - Hutch and Oti (Emma's dogs) got shipped off to kennels for two nights over Christmas - they have forgiven her but they are keeping a close eye on the additional treats and new fluffy bed.

Kanga my German Short haired Pointer is still acting like a squirrel on meth. She seems to be enjoying an extended teenage stage - you know - grumbling for no reason, leaving her stuff everywhere and eating us out of house and home.

The flock, sadly reduced in numbers are Bertie and Peiking (both drakes) have enjoyed the recent flooding and Dora, Princess and the other chicken have been prepared to put up with the ducks to get out of the cold and bed down in the coup rather than up in their summer location in the trees.

Not much else to report other than we are running 3 special workshops at Chipping Norton Theatre starting in March (see their website for details from Monday) and I am feeling the need to dye my hair and maybe start eating quinoa; in the meantime my new obsession is bookbinding and Emmas is knitting fingerless gloves!

Enjoy your weekend and hope to see you soon.

Melinda
