Willow Giant Garden Flower
Spend time exploring the timeless art of willow weaving
Service Description
Working with your hands and a natural material is always incredibly popular & rewarding. Using locally grown, natural willows, you’ll be guided through traditional basketry techniques to create handmade pieces that bring a touch of nature into your home and garden. No experience needed—just a love of making. In this Willow Garden Flower Workshop you will create a striking, large, decorative flower to brighten your borders or add charm to a garden wall. Learn how to tie in the slath and use fine willows in a pairing weave to shape the centre of your flower. Then add willow petals to create your one-of-a-kind bloom. A relaxed and rewarding way to explore the craft. Clare Shilvock is a local basket weaver, willow farmer and willow sculptor who will guide you gently through the process of working with willow - at the end of the session you'll take away your creation plus the skills to make further at home. Suitable for all (aged 15+) but not ideal for those with arthritis in the hands. As with all Larkswold workshops, you'll be treated to plenty of freshly brewed teas & coffees, homemade cakes and a glass of mulled wine or bubbly to celebrate your achievements! Thursday 11th September 10-1pm Book the afternoon session as well (to make a Willow Hanging Basket) to make it a full-day experience, and we'll include lunch for free!
