Summer's back & it's all change?

Having dug out black tights, shoes and (gasp) boots, of course the weather turned warmer again..

Not that I'm complaining you understand, however I was all ready to curl up under a blanket in the evenings and get on with my long-term crochet project but it appears that I was prematurely cracking open the hot chocolate. It was 24 degrees when I sat outside to make myself an Autumn Wreath from foraged flora & fauna!

We have a few Autumn Wreath Workshops in the diary if you fancy booking in:

September is a time for change. New school, new year, new uniform, new subjects, friends, clubs and new beginnings. Our kids are growing up at an alarming rate and this week I'm writing the Blog again while Melinda helps her daughter get packed and ready to go off to University on Saturday. The emotional rollercoaster that is parenting just keeps on giving (mainly giving more wrinkles and grey hairs I should point out!)

Happily I seem to have got over my recent baking-slump and just in time too with our Macmillan Coffee Morning fast approaching next Thursday 26th September 10-1pm. I'm definitely going to bake a Coffee Cake (my current fave) and Melinda will be doing Chocolate Brownies, but I've been pondering what else to offer, and have come to the conclusion that it's the perfect opportunity to try new bakes out on unsuspecting guests! Come along to see what we settled on... yum!

Support us and enjoy cake

We will have a Raffle too so if you have something lovely to contribute then please do bring it along on the day (or before) We've offering a Larkswold workshop and lovely Diana from Diana's Wardrobe is donating a ladies' scarf. There'll also be some block printing and pottery painting for anyone who wants to have a go.

If you can't come but would like to buy some raffle tickets please get in touch!

Feel the Fear and do it anyway

I feel like this is something I've really only embraced since we started Larkswold, thanks to Melinda. I used to think other people just weren't scared, but now I realise they often were, but were keeping it in check and powering on regardless. I also used to get really nervous before going to a Networking event, in fact I really rather hated the whole thing - but although I still find those events extremely tiring I've found that I can do them, act like a proper grown-up for an hour or two and even enjoy it, a little!

As you may know we hold our own Networking Club on the first Thursday each month, with the next one on Thursday 3rd October 9-11am. Even that used to fill me with dread! Perhaps you also feel like that, but trust me, it's really not that bad at all, so if you've thought about coming along, but never have, maybe this is your time! We have a lovely speaker in October - Fi Burge, a local lady who helps businesses with product development & sales strategies. Fi has an impressive history working with both small independents and big names like John Lewis, M&S and Hobbycraft. Book your places below.

Coming up in the studio we have a fully booked Leather Collar & Lead workshop on Saturday, a Hen party doing Dried Flower Wreaths on Sunday and then Sunday afternoon we are off to Cotswold Lakes to run a Corporate Session for 32 doing Block Printing and Candle Making. Not very long ago the prospect of doing this would've caused me a lot of stress, but now I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to it! What I am not looking forward to is the washing up after 32 people have done Block Printing!

I apologise for the lack of duck updates (they are all still alive I believe) but I can confirm that Kanga the puppy is growing, she still has sharp teeth and her age is still referred to by weeks rather than months, which means she is still very little and must be excused when she wees on the floor. Or so I'm told.

Have a lovely weekend all.

Emma
