Experience this Red Listed Endangered Heritage Craft - we are so lucky to have these local artisans come & run this session! Get started in straw work with Ian, who has been honing this skill over the last 50 years with the support of his wife Emma, also an experienced strawcraft maker. This workshop will teach you simple straw plaiting and fine decorative straw work (Swiss straw techniques), all assembled to produce a unique decoration that can be attached to a hat, or even just used as a beautiful ornament. If possible, please bring your favourite straw hat for decoration. (Hats are NOT provided as part of the workshop) On completion of the workshop you will have beautifully decorated headwear for the rest of the summer! Ian and Emma will guide you through this craft step by step. Suitable for 12yrs+ with some crafting experience, to adults. All materials (except the hat!) provided. A few hours of mindfulness and creativity doing this very traditional, environmentally friendly craft. As with all Larkswold workshops, Melinda & Emma will look after you with a selection of homemade cakes and plenty of teas, coffees, and cold drinks throughout the session.
